We are flexible and adapt to the ever-evolving regulatory compliance needs, in order to bring London’s aging buildings up to modern day safety standards. As a principal contractor, it is vital to be recognised by the highest standards of Fire Safety accreditations. We carry out all our works in line with guidance from BM Trada .
The first step to a building being compliant is to assess the condition of the building and what is required to bring it forward. This can be by means of a specialist fire risk assessment and building strategy plan. The findings of these reports will provide recommendations and enable us to work alongside our clients to begin the process of gaining building directive compliance.
Sykes are fully accredited to assess and survey your portfolio of buildings for all fire doors and fire stopping works to be assessed for compliance. We specialise in large scale rollout and framework agreements and cyclical planned preventative maintenance surveys, all to offer our clients a truly first-class service and value for money.
We are fully accredited to work on existing doors, which in many cases negates the requirement for full replacement, and the disruption and added cost this can bring. We analyse and produce remedial works reports against 3rd party fire risk assessment for transparency of our recommendations and solutions to the report’s findings along with a full cost breakdown. This is in line with BM Trada fire door maintenance and approved repair techniques (ARTS).
Should new or replacement doors be required, Sykes have a full and established procurement route that has specific buying power, that on most occasions, beat many of our competitors supply chain lead-in times. This supports express order and expedite the long lead in times being experienced in today’s ever challenging supply market. Our procurement and buying department specialise in building long-term relationships with our suppliers to provide the best quality products, reasonably priced and delivered in time to meet your programme deadlines.
Sykes can deliver a full turnkey solution, having the back up of our fully accredited staff members to deliver specific solutions in linear gap and penetration seals, cavity barriers, and intumescent air transfer grilles.
Passive fire protection (PFP) is components or systems of a building that slow or impede the spread of the effects of fire or smoke without system activation, and usually without movement. Examples of passive systems include floors, ceilings and roofs, fire doors, windows, wall assemblies, fire-resistant coatings, and other fire and smoke control assemblies. Passive fire protection systems can also include active components such as fire dampers. Sykes is a one-stop-shop for PFP. We take a non-compliant building, from initial Fire Risk Assessment requirements all the way to full Fire Door and Compartmentation remedial works. This can be accompanied by a full maintenance schedule for the future.
Sykes work with many of our clients on largescale fire damper testing. We offer solutions for our clients whether the areas are difficult to access, as historically the fabric has changed or there is a requirement for installing new. We can offer the full package of design, maintenance, replacement and commissioning – inclusive of a full building company services to make good disturbed or rebuild the solution requirements for the clients.
