Sykes taking part in two big fundraising challenges this summer

This summer, Sykes & Son Ltd are taking part in two big fundraising challenges:

1.   Heritage 100 Bike Ride (Saturday 21st August 2021) A challenging 100-mile cycling ride from Dover Castle to London via some of our most iconic sites including HM Tower of London and Buckingham Palace.

2.   Trekfest 50km Challenge (Saturday 18th September 2021) This is a 50Km (32 mile) hike in one of the UKs most beautiful national parks – the Brecon Beacons, South Wales including the summit of the Brecon Beacons’ highest peak, Pen Y Fan (886m).

We are doing these events to raise much needed funds for Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity, the only charity that provides mental, physical and financial wellbeing support to the construction community and their families.

Every single working day in the UK, two construction workers take their own life. Stress, anxiety and depression accounts for a fifth of all work- related illness. A crucial element of the charity’s strategy is to provide a wide range of free and widely available pro-active resources to support the industry.

As a founder member of ‘Building Mental Health’, they have been instrumental in developing an online portal of information to help companies develop a positive mental health culture. This includes a 5-step framework to better mental health, with free and easy to access resources to support the construction community.
