The summer period is traditionally busy for Sykes with an emphasis on work in the schools and higher education sector. This year has proved no exception, and we are busy completing work at schools and universities for London School of Economics, University College London, City of London Corporation, Kings College London and many others.

Of particular note, is a refurbishment package at City of London School, as we recently discovered an interesting historic fact in connection with the school. 150 years ago, one of our previous owners, Arthur Sykes was a pupil at the school when it was located at Milk Street in the city. This was a 1-mile walk from his home on Essex Street, where we still reside today. The school was moved to its current site on the river at Blackfriars in 1986. This refurbishment project was the first successful tender for Sykes on the new City of London ‘Intermediate Works’ Framework.
