In early 2020, Sykes secured a multi-year contract with King’s College London via the London Universities Purchasing Consortium to survey and report on 4000 doors over their 3 campuses

Unfortunately works were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic before commencing in summer 2020. Surveys take place on a 6-monthly basis and are logged on the Bolster survey app. Detailed reports are issued, together with a remedial works proposals.

We were also commissioned to review KCL’s existing Fire Risk Assessments and issue a cost proposal covering 80 buildings across the Guys, Strand and Denmark Hill campuses.

Works are now underway at both Guys and Strand campuses. A team of 9 operatives are currently working at Bush House, a Grade II listed building at the southern end of Kingsway and the Strand in London. Bush House previously served as the headquarters of the BBC World Service.

Sykes are approved under the BM TRADA Q-Mark Maintenance Scheme for maintenance, assessment and remedial works to existing fire doors. This is in addition to being accredited installers of timber fire doors (SDI 14) under the IFC scheme. IFC Certification Ltd is a UKAS accredited provider of independent third-party certification.

We have invested in an innovative mobile app called Bolster Systems which offers an electronic management application designed to integrate the installation, documentation and management of fire protection within buildings.
